Black Magic Strikes Again

If you’re really quiet and listen real hard, you can hear the sound of all the good old boys in Alabama crying over the fact that Roy Moore didn’t win the Senate race.

With the way this country has been headed over the last few weeks, I think we all needed a win of some sorts. We may be close to a big one depending on how the Michael Flynn situation shakes out, but in the meantime, the good guys have prevailed in Alabama. The pedophile/sexual assaulter/all-around terrible person was defeated and Doug Jones is now a Senator.

The main reason this huge win came to be was due to the vast number of female African American voters that turn up to the polls. Despite African Americans making up just 30 percent of the electorate, the fact that 96 percent of them voted for Jones was a huge factor in the win. It was especially incredible to find out that 98 percent of black women voted for Jones. The very people that Moore has tried to keep down and suppress are the ones that ultimate became his undoing. Talk about reaping what you sow.

I love this so much since the vast majority of white politicians seem to be of the mind that blacks don’t vote or don’t care about the issues. This Senate race is enough to cast some serious doubt on that going forward. As The New York Times put it perfectly earlier today, “Blacks saw a vote against Moore as a vote against turning back the clock.”

When faced with the possibility of having an open racist speaking on their behalf in the Senate, blacks showed up in force to take Moore down in historic fashion. That’s the power of black magic, baby.

With this win, it’s possible that Democrats can now get to work at trying to stop some of the restrictive laws that Trump and his band of cronies have been putting in place over the last 11 months. While it seems as though they might be unable to stop the new harsh tax code overhaul that was approved last week, having one more Democrat in the Senate can only help in terms of stopping more of these restrictive laws from coming down.

At the end of the day, this was a pretty bright light in a tunnel of shit that we’ve been going through for most of 2017. Let’s hope that this win gives us some good omens going into 2018, allowing us to shake off the filth that was this horrendous year.
