A Day to be Thankful

As we wrap up another Thanksgiving, I’d be remiss if I didn’t take the time to say what I’m thankful for in my life.

I’m thankful for my faith because without God and the guidance that he’s given me over the span of my lifetime, I’m not sure where I’d be. Probably making a lot of money as a lawyer with no wife. shudders

Speaking of wives, I am extremely thankful for my wife, Kayla. She’s allowed me to be who I want to be in life and has always supported me. From moving across the country to Louisiana for law school two weeks after getting married to moving back so I can pursue my dream of being a writer, she’s always been there. I truly would be a completely different person if it wasn’t for her pushing me to be better everyday.

I’m thankful for my mom for being such a strong and positive influence in my life. While she may have gone certain routes at certain times if she were in my shoes (I’m looking at you, law school), she’s always supported me every step of the way and I am thankful for that. Not only for helping me with major decisions, but just for being one of my guiding lights throughout my entire life. She hasn’t just helped me, either. She’s taken in Kayla as if she was her own daughter, and I’m so thankful for that.

I’m thankful for Joey, my best friend, who is always there to call me out on my bullshit when he needs to. Thank you for being there for both Kayla and I to give us yet another support system we can utilize. I don’t think either of us can imagine life without you at this point. (Where them pages at, though?!)

I’m thankful for my job and the fact that I can write about esports for a living. I started as a part-timer at Rotowire in March of last year; now I’m full time and loving life. Thank you to everyone there who’s taken a chance on me.

I’m thankful for everyone who stops by my Twitch channel to hang with me while I play games. While we haven’t grown the biggest community just yet, it’s been a blast over the last couple months and I can’t wait to see where I can take this from here.

I’m honestly just thankful to be living my life the way I want. There’s a lot of people out there enduring so much hardship and so much pain. The fact that my wife and I can live our lives without any hindrance or hardship is a blessing in itself, making that the biggest reason I am thankful this year.

I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving and were able to spend plenty of time with your families, and I’ll see you tomorrow as we continue along this journey on Medium!
